The NHS Data Conference 2021: Exploring the national data strategy
The Convenzis NHS Data and Information Virtual Conference series provide NHS IT Managers and data specialists with the latest national policy updates and best practice from across the UK. Over 500 delegates have joined us throughout the pandemic to discuss challenges and how data is being used to help provide a more comprehensive and integrated healthcare system.
On December 9th, 2020 the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport published the National Data Strategy, this document outlines the government's plans to improve its use of data.
The plan includes 5 priority areas of action listed as the plan “Missions”, these missions are:
- Unlocking the value of data across the economy
- Securing a pro-growth and trusted data regime
- Transforming the government’s use of data to drive efficiency and improve public services.
- Ensuring the security and resilience of the infrastructure on which data relies
- Championing the international flow of data
Healthcare is a prominent focus within the government strategy and provides information on how data was instrumental in the fight against covid-19 by identifying and enabling individuals from across the UK to take part in clinical trials.
NHSX is currently developing a document which will outline how health and social care organisations can improve the sharing of data across the sector while still protecting the absolute need for patient confidentiality, adding, that they expect all areas of the country to have a “basic minimum viable shared care record solution” focused on integrating GPs and NHS trusts providing direct care by September 2021
Our upcoming conference aims to condense the national data strategy and NHSX data sharing strategy into a 6-hour, high-value, session that will provide key information on how the plan will affect the NHS while sharing some amazing work already being delivered across the estate.
