AXREM, the UK trade association representing the diagnostic imaging, radiotherapy, patient monitoring, digital pathology, and associated AI and IT sectors, is proud to announce a major milestone in its growth and development: welcoming its 100th member.

This landmark achievement confirms AXREM’s position as the only collective voice for these vital healthcare technologies in the UK, bringing together the country’s leading suppliers, innovators, and strategic partners under one collaborative umbrella.

Founded by OEMs to advocate for the imaging and radiotherapy sectors, AXREM has evolved into a dynamic, inclusive, and forward-thinking organisation. Over the past six years, under the visionary leadership of CEO Sally Edgington, AXREM has undergone a complete transformation. What began as a part-time, three-day-a-week role has grown into a full-time leadership position supported by a dedicated team of six, each committed to driving innovation, sustainability, and inclusivity across the healthcare technology landscape.

Sally Edgington, AXREM CEO, said:

“Our 100th member isn’t just a number, it’s a symbol of the trust, relevance, and impact AXREM has built across the sector. We’ve grown from 16 members in 2019 to 100 in 2025, and that growth reflects the strength of our partnerships, the clarity of our purpose, and the passion of our people.”

Celebrating with Purpose: 100 Trees for 100 Members

To commemorate this milestone, AXREM has partnered with NHS Forest to plant 100 trees across NHS Estates throughout the UK. This initiative reflects AXREM’s deep commitment to sustainability, sector collaboration, and environmental stewardship.

The trees will be planted as part of the NHS Forest’s winter 2025–26 programme, which will see thousands of native trees distributed to healthcare sites nationwide. NHS Forest has planted more than 158,000 trees since its inception in 2009—a testament to the growing momentum behind greener healthcare environments.

Sally Edgington continued:

“Welcoming our 100th member is a proud milestone, but it’s also a reflection of the values that unite us. Planting 100 trees across NHS Estates is a meaningful way to celebrate sustainability, partnership, and care. This initiative reflects AXREM’s commitment to shaping a future where healthcare technology supports both people and planet.”

AXREM’s contribution adds to this impact, with trees being planted across healthcare sites managed by NHS trusts in England, Scotland, and Wales. The mix of native species—hawthorn, hazel, crab apple, and rowan—will enhance biodiversity and support local ecosystems.

This initiative aligns with AXREM’s wider sustainability strategy, which champions responsible procurement, digital transformation, and inclusive innovation across the MedTech sector. It also reinforces AXREM’s support for NHS Forest’s mission to improve the health and wellbeing of patients, staff, and communities through green space and nature-based solutions.

AXREM Chair, Huw Shurmer, commented:

“Reaching our 100th member is more than a milestone—it’s a testament to the strength, relevance, and unity of our sector. The decision to mark this achievement by planting 100 trees across NHS Estates speaks volumes about who we are and what we stand for. It’s a gesture rooted in sustainability, partnership, and long-term thinking—values that are essential not only to our sector, but to the future of healthcare itself.”

AXREM Sustainability Special Focus Group Convenor, Chris Taylor, added:

“This tree planting initiative is a powerful symbol of AXREM’s sustainability ethos in action. Our work has always been about embedding sustainability into the DNA of healthcare technology, from greener procurement to carbon-conscious innovation. Partnering with NHS Forest to plant 100 trees is a natural extension of that mission—creating a legacy that benefits both people and planet.”

Neil Ingram, Trees and Woodlands Delivery Lead at NHS Forest, said:

“NHS Forest is delighted to welcome AXREM as a supporter and to celebrate their reaching 100 members. The sponsorship will make a tangible contribution to our mission by directly funding the planting of 100 trees during the 2025–26 season. This generous support reflects a shared commitment to nature recovery, environmental resilience, and creating greener, healthier NHS sites for staff, patients, and communities.”

As AXREM continues to champion the industry, its commitment remains clear: to empower members, influence policy, and foster a culture of sustainability, wellbeing, and shared success.

Notes:

AXREM members supply the majority of diagnostic medical imaging and radiotherapy equipment installed in UK hospitals. In doing so, our member companies and their employees work side by side with Radiologists, Radiographers, Practitioners, Oncologists and a wide range of healthcare professionals in delivering healthcare to patients using our technologies.

Our members therefore have unique knowledge, experience and insight into the workflow and challenges faced by healthcare professionals on a day-to-day basis, which enables us to develop and offer innovative solutions to improve the speed and quality of diagnostic procedures and treatments with our ultimate aim of improving patient care.

Although our members operate in a highly competitive commercial environment and in strict conformity with UK laws and regulations, certain issues such as this require focus and resolution on an industry-wide basis.
