AXREM, the UK trade association representing suppliers of imaging and radiotherapy equipment and services, recently facilitated a visit by Lilian Greenwood, Member of Parliament for Nottingham South and Parliamentary Under‑Secretary of State for Local Transport, to AXREM member Source LDPath at their Nottingham headquarters.
The visit provided an opportunity for the MP to gain first‑hand insight into the vital work undertaken by Source LDPath, whose industry‑leading laboratory services support both NHS and private hospitals across the UK. Their expertise in genomics and histopathology plays a crucial role in accelerating diagnostic pathways, improving patient outcomes, and strengthening national diagnostic capacity.
During the tour of the laboratories, Lilian Greenwood met with senior members of the Source LDPath team and observed the advanced technologies and processes that underpin their service delivery. Discussions focused on the organisation’s contribution to modernising diagnostic services, supporting workforce pressures, and enabling faster, more accurate reporting for clinicians and patients.
Sally Edgington, CEO of AXREM, welcomed Lilian Greenwood and introduced the association’s mission, outlining AXREM’s strategic priorities and its role in championing innovation, supporting members, and advocating for a sustainable and collaborative diagnostic landscape. She highlighted the importance of strong partnerships between industry, government, and healthcare providers to ensure equitable access to high‑quality diagnostic services.
Sally Edgington said: “We were delighted to facilitate this visit and showcase the exceptional work of Source LDPath. Their commitment to advancing diagnostic services reflects the wider strengths of AXREM members across the sector. Engagement with policymakers is essential to ensuring that industry expertise informs national priorities and supports the future resilience of diagnostic services.”
Daniel Plews, Senior Business Development Manager for Source LDPath added: “It was a pleasure to welcome Lilian Greenwood to our headquarters. We are proud to demonstrate how our laboratory services contribute to improving patient care and supporting the NHS at a time of increasing demand. Today’s visit provided a valuable opportunity to discuss the innovations and challenges shaping the future of diagnostics.”
Lilian Greenwood MP expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to see the work first‑hand, noting the importance of continued investment and collaboration to strengthen diagnostic capacity for communities across Nottingham and the wider UK.
Note:
AXREM members supply the majority of diagnostic medical imaging and radiotherapy equipment installed in UK hospitals. In doing so, our member companies and their employees work side by side with Radiologists, Radiographers, Practitioners, Oncologists and a wide range of healthcare professionals in delivering healthcare to patients using our technologies.
Our members therefore have unique knowledge, experience and insight into the workflow and challenges faced by healthcare professionals on a day-to-day basis, which enables us to develop and offer innovative solutions to improve the speed and quality of diagnostic procedures and treatments with our ultimate aim of improving patient care.
Although our members operate in a highly competitive commercial environment and in strict conformity with UK laws and regulations, certain issues such as this require focus and resolution on an industry-wide basis.
