I qualified as a nurse in 2013 and have varied clinical experience from working in Paediatric Intensive Care to being a team leader in Outpatients! Whilst in Outpatients I developed a passion for supporting the unregistered workforce and joined the Gosh Learning Academy as a Practice Facilitator for Bands 2-4 in 2018. I gained experience helping to deliver the care certificate and healthcare support worker apprenticeship which was extremely rewarding to support individuals as they embark on their career at GOSH.
I am currently the Practice Educator for Nursing Apprenticeships, supporting 30 nursing apprentices across the hospital. What I love about the Nursing Apprenticeship is that is gives our talented and passionate Healthcare Assistants the opportunity to achieve their goal of becoming a registered paediatric nurse, which they may not have been able to access through the conventional university route. These individuals inspire me every day with their knowledge, skills and determination. I also believe that the Nursing Apprenticeship contributes to better experience for children, young people and their families, as well as patient safety.
