Cheryl-ann Carr Biography
Commence nursing career in 1992. Trained at the Wolfson School of Nursing for 3 years before receiving a Diploma in nursing qualification in 1995 and entered onto the Nursing register.
Commenced employment as a Registered Nurse at Ealing Hospital NHS Trust specialising in respiratory nursing. After 2 years at Ealing hospital NHS trust, I moved to the Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Trust to specialise in respiratory medicine. While at the Royal Brompton hospital, I completed ENB 998 course specialising in Cardio-Thoracic Nursing. I then transferred to the Harefield Hospital site to develop skills in cardiology and while there completed my BSc (Hons) Professional Nursing. I moved back to Ealing Hospital NHS Trust as an agency nurse for two years, in order to pursue volunteer work with a charity working in North Africa mainly Mali, Burkina Faso, Benin and Togo. During this period completed a Diploma in Tropical Nursing. I went back to work at Ealing hospital NHS Trust and completed my Mentorship in Practice course.
I moved away from clinical nursing and joined NHS Direct as a Nurse Advisor for 3 years before being promoted as a Line Manager for another 2 years. As a result of redundancy at NHS Direct, I moved into the community at a nursing and residential private home as a training manager. While there I commenced PgCert in Education at the University of Hertfordshire. After 2.5 years in the nursing and residential home, I returned to the NHS at Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust as the Clinical Assistant Teacher in the education department. While at the hospital Cheryl-ann completed my PgCert in Education. After 1 year I moved over to work as a clinical educator for the medicine directorate at Imperial college healthcare NHS Trust before taking up another role within the organisation as the lead for Preceptorship. While there I completed my MA Education and I am currently working as a clinical practice educator based at St Mary’s Hospital.
