What next for the WRES? Moving towards local accountability
Anton Emmanuel
Lead for WRES
Welsh Government
Six iterations of the WRES data have failed to change some of the fundamental disparities that beset the service. Changing this requires working across the complexity of multiple contributors to the problem, at the trust and system levels. Using modified metrics, reflective of the individual staff experience is key. The intersection of ethnicity and gender is key here. Setting ambitions from the data, and signposting evidence-based interventions that target action is key. Learning from sites which are exemplars is another focus for the national team, as is monitoring and comparing outcomes across regions and around the country as a whole. The presentation will focus on how institutional discrimination could be targeted in a meaningful way.

The benefits of kindness in the workplace (Confirmed)
Dr Adam Harrison
International leadership coach, trainer, speaker and podcaster
Dr A M Harrison Coaching and Training Ltd.
People tend not to leave a job; they leave bad bosses, unkind colleagues and toxic organisations. People tend to prefer kinder managers and more annual leave over higher salaries. Incivility in the healthcare workplace costs lives, both patients and staff.
What’s my point? I believe the key to the NHS workforce recruitment and retention crisis is an intentional effort for leaders and colleagues to simply be kinder to each other and lead with compassion.
A lot of us don’t know this. I’m on a mission to enlighten people.
