RadVision North 2027 will bring together NHS radiology and imaging professionals to explore how services can respond to rising diagnostic demand while improving access, quality, productivity and workforce sustainability.
The conference will focus on the practical transformation of imaging services through regional collaboration, shared reporting capacity, enterprise imaging, community diagnostic centres, workforce development and the safe adoption of artificial intelligence.
Through national updates, interactive skill exchanges, leadership discussions and NHS case studies, delegates will examine what is working, what remains difficult and how imaging services can turn strategic ambition into measurable improvements for patients and staff.
Current Landscape
Imaging plays a critical role across urgent care, elective recovery, cancer diagnosis and the management of long-term conditions. Demand for CT, MRI, ultrasound and other diagnostic services continues to increase, placing sustained pressure on reporting capacity, infrastructure and an already stretched workforce.
Across the North, imaging networks and community diagnostic centres are creating additional capacity and enabling greater collaboration between organisations. At the same time, enterprise imaging, regional worklists and artificial intelligence are beginning to change how examinations are acquired, prioritised, shared and reported.
The challenge now is to connect these developments into sustainable service models that reduce variation, improve patient access and make better use of the NHS workforce and available technology.
Key Challenges
Radiology departments are being asked to deliver more activity while managing workforce shortages, financial pressure, ageing infrastructure and increasing clinical complexity.
Progress can also be slowed by disconnected systems, inconsistent workflows, variation between organisations and uncertainty around the governance and clinical assurance of new technologies. Imaging networks must balance local operational pressures with wider regional priorities while maintaining clinical ownership, patient safety and staff confidence.
Community diagnostic capacity must be properly connected to acute services and clinical pathways, while artificial intelligence must move beyond isolated pilots and demonstrate measurable value within everyday clinical practice.
