Healthcare Digital Technology Virtual Conference

Until a couple of weeks ago, the digital health sector has been struggling to scale its products and innovations. The NHS has always been cautious, with decision making slow and with many layers.

All that has changed with COVID-19,

The effect it is currently having on the digital health sector is unparalleled, with a marked acceleration in the adoption of technology across the NHS, a prime example being the huge scale-up and use of remote consulting platforms in general practice.

From communications to clinical productivity, Healthcare Digital Technology is already saving millions of pounds and helping to save countless lives and NHS staff hours, over the last few years we have seen the development of multiple reviews, white papers and national strategies outlining the future plans for digital tech in the NHS, these include:

Data-Driven Learning Health Systems and Automated Clinical Epidemiology Studies for NHS

Krish Nirantharan
Institute of Applied Health Research
University of Birmingham
In a Learning Health System (LHS) we aim to apply existing evidence-based knowledge into practice, capture data on current practice continuously within the healthcare infrastructure, analyse the data to identify gaps in practice and to generate new knowledge, and then close the loop by undertaking quality improvement initiatives and by incorporating new knowledge into practice. NHS has a wealth of data that can enable rapid learning health systems. In this presentation, an overview of existing tools that can enable LHS and an innovative tool for Automated Clinical Epidemiology Studies (ACES) by the University of Birmingham to conduct epidemiological studies that can facilitate LHS will be discussed.

Successfully Supporting Healthcare Technologies in the Socially Distanced World

Mike Patchett
Head of Public Sector (UK &Ireland)
Lakeside Software
In the Covid-19 prevalent world, it has become the norm that organisation’s staff “Work From Home” indeed as we emerge from the pandemic crisis it is questionable whether we will ever return to the office-based world as the “success of the experiment” forced on businesses by Covid-19 has been such that employees and leadership both recognise the positive outcome of the “new norm” For Healthcare workers delivering essential care, both Acute and Chronic, this is not a possibility. True some GP consultations can initially be done online but at some stage for a large number of patients, their patient journey will take them to a healthcare facility. But what about those Information Technology staff who are vital to keeping the underlying technology infrastructure functioning at peak performance? Surely it is counterproductive for them to be visiting Wards and Surgeries to diagnose and fix problems. To so do will expose the healthcare staff and the IT professionals to an undue risk of virus transmission. There has to be a better way.

Supporting Digital Transformation: FlexNHS

Aasha Cowey
Programme Manager
NHS South, Central and West CSU
In this presentation, Aasha will reflect on the relationship between flexible working and the digital, data and technology workforce, and it’s growing importance. On one hand, digital and remote working is a huge enabler for flexible working for the whole of our health and social care workforce. On the other hand, offering flexible working arrangements may encourage individuals to consider a longer-term career in the NHS with a better work-life balance. Both of the above have a positive impact on retention and recruitment for the workforce. COVID has forced us to reflect on some of this at a much quicker pace, but the culture has not necessarily caught up yet.

Transforming healthcare using technology

David East
Business Solutions Director
Visionable
We know that healthcare professionals’ time is of the utmost importance. It could mean the difference between life and death for their patients. So when it comes to IT, there’s no time for issues with reliability and national outages, struggling through vital virtual meetings with limited sharing ability, low-quality images and limited participants. Time is precious and to make sure patients receive the best possible care, healthcare professionals need the best tools to work efficiently and effectively. When the UK lockdown was announced in March, there was not enough time to really consider what video platform would be the best for enabling healthcare teams to continue working to the highest standard from wherever they were. Problems have started to arise and many platforms have seen national outages over the last few months, affecting numerous NHS trusts up and down the country. Now that things are starting to settle down, it is a good opportunity to think about longer-term virtual solutions that meet the needs of your Trust.

NHS Robotics in Healthcare

Sean Houghton
Associate Director, Medical Devices Connected & Digital Health
Ipsos MORI
Healthcare has been evolving in leaps and bounds as we strive to keep up with the developing needs of the population. From the introduction of computers in the 1970s to surgical robots now, the healthcare industry is at the cutting edge of technology. Having an understanding of the uses of robotics in healthcare as well as some perceived advantages and disadvantages and examples of its uses will put you in good stead for your medical school interview. I’m going to briefly outline the history of robotic technologies in healthcare, go through the pros and cons and finish with some examples of where they’ve been used.

Convenzis Healthcare Event testimonials

What our clients say about us

It was great to join the Convenzis team again for the patient flow event. As always, the team were incredibly accommodating and happy to help. The quality of attendees is always of a high standard and relevant to the patient flow and to us also. We continue to have great discussions and footfall around our stand with no need to try and encourage people to come and see us. Really positive event for us and we look forward to working with Convenzis in the future.

Catalyst BI -

My colleague and I presented at the NHS workforce conference 2023, 19 September. The support and guidance we received from the Convenzis team in the run up to our presentation slot was great, well timed and perfectly pitched. The event itself, again was expertly organised. The conference was well Chaired by Sean, who was very engaging. As an audience member as well as a panel member, I would definitely work with the Convenzis team again.

NHS BSA -

Covenzis delivered an excellent meeting like always - a hubbub of activity focused on future developments within NHS pathology laboratories

Working with Convenzis is a stress-free and a rewarding experience, with fantastic engagement from a highly targeted and relevant audience

I worked with Convenzis, primarily Dan, for the first time this year, putting together a bespoke online event for IBM. He has always been so responsive and accommodating. The team always remained professional and helpful – despite the many demands from our side! They were very keen for us to maximise on the investment and revisit those attendees who had not committed to follow ups.
It was an absolute pleasure doing business with Convenzis and I know there will be more opportunities next year. Looking forward to it!
