Expanding university capacity to meet nursing workforce demands: A case study in radical transformation (Confirmed)
This presentation will describe the radical transformations necessary to exponentially expand a public university’s capacity in its undergraduate (pre-registration) nursing program. Challenges and solutions to be discussed include (1) redesigning core processes such as marketing, managing admissions, and supporting at-risk students; (2) developing partnerships to increase placements; (3) leveraging technology--such as educational platforms and multi-modal simulation--to scale content delivery and acquisition of required competencies, and (4) providing faculty development to teach in this blended format. Outcomes including progression to graduation, licensure rates, as well as student and employer satisfaction will be provided. Potential implications for the UK will be drawn.
