The NHS Radiology Conference 2022

The NHS Radiology Conference series provides a safe and secure platform for NHS imaging professionals to meet with peers, share insights and listen to live guest presentations delivered by sector-leading speakers and innovators. Delegates can expect to benefit from live keynote presentations from UK policymakers, meet-the-supplier sessions, live Q&A time and much more.

Medical Imaging is fundamental in the delivery of modern medicine and is an essential part of many NHS treatments being delivered today. Clinical Radiologists use medical imaging techniques to investigate, diagnose, and monitor diseases and injuries while interventional radiologists use imaging-guided techniques to carry out minimally invasive surgery that have positive outcomes for patient experience, discharge time and reducing fatalities.

NHS England and Improvement recently set out initial plans to develop and implement collaborative imaging networks. The benefits of imaging networks are vast and include:

  • Improved local treatment delivery.
  • Reduced risk of missed diagnosis.
  • Improved availability of images and other test results.
  • Improved access to the most innovative imaging equipment.
  • And more flexible working opportunities for staff.

The Royal College of Radiologists recently published the Policy Priorities for Clinical Radiology 2021-2026 report, the report identified 3 key areas of scale-up needed to ensure the highest standard of patient treatment is delivered, these areas include:

  • Maximising the radiology workforce.
  • Providing the adequate tools to enhance patient care.
  • And supporting new models of delivery.

Our upcoming event will provide the NHS Imaging community with a timely platform to listen, learn and share insights based on the new models of care and delivery proposed by the sectors leading policymakers.

Putting Policy into Practice

Gill Holroyd
Clinical Collaboration Lead
Cheshire & Merseyside Radiology Imaging Network
I will discuss some of the successes and challenges we have faced when implementing radiology transformation projects. I will focus on five projects: Development of a new radiology dashboard. Reducing the risk of missed radiology diagnosis Shoulder pain virtual education and treatment post-ultrasound-guided injection. Improving interventional radiology efficiency. Looking towards more joined-up radiology on-call service.

Deep Learning for Image Search to Accelerate Thorax CT Assessment

Prof. Georg Langs
Chief Scientist
contextflow
Discusses the challenges of diagnosing ILDs and the practical impact of machine learning in radiological practice. Quantitative profiles turn imaging data into signatures that can enter treatment decisions for complex ILD cases. Quantification of disease patterns and image-based search enables the comparison of CT images with known findings to help recognise tissue changes and perform reliable differential diagnosis.

Diagnostic accuracy of the intra-renal resistive index in diagnosis of diabetic nephropathy keeping urine albumin-creatinine ratio as gold standard

Mr. Jan Sher Khan
Clinical Fellow, Surgery
Ninewells Hospital, NHS Tayside
Resistive index on the US is a sensitive and specific tool for the detection of DN. As such, it is a useful radiological tool for the diagnosis of DN in adults and further studies are recommended to confirm its usefulness.

Convenzis Healthcare Event testimonials

What our clients say about us

It was great to join the Convenzis team again for the patient flow event. As always, the team were incredibly accommodating and happy to help. The quality of attendees is always of a high standard and relevant to the patient flow and to us also. We continue to have great discussions and footfall around our stand with no need to try and encourage people to come and see us. Really positive event for us and we look forward to working with Convenzis in the future.

My colleague and I presented at the NHS workforce conference 2023, 19 September. The support and guidance we received from the Convenzis team in the run up to our presentation slot was great, well timed and perfectly pitched. The event itself, again was expertly organised. The conference was well Chaired by Sean, who was very engaging. As an audience member as well as a panel member, I would definitely work with the Convenzis team again.

Covenzis delivered an excellent meeting like always - a hubbub of activity focused on future developments within NHS pathology laboratories

I worked with Convenzis, primarily Dan, for the first time this year, putting together a bespoke online event for IBM. He has always been so responsive and accommodating. The team always remained professional and helpful – despite the many demands from our side! They were very keen for us to maximise on the investment and revisit those attendees who had not committed to follow ups.
It was an absolute pleasure doing business with Convenzis and I know there will be more opportunities next year. Looking forward to it!
