AXREM hosts beginners' crochet-along for Dementia UK this November
14 October, 2026

AXREM, the UK trade association for suppliers of diagnostic medical imaging, radiotherapy, healthcare IT and care equipment, is running a four-week crochet-a-thon throughout November to raise money for its Charity of the Year, Dementia UK.
The crochet-a-thon is inspired by Dementia UK's November Knitting Challenge. The challenge invites people to pick up their needles every day in November to help fund specialist dementia nurses. We're taking the idea and giving it a hook.
Donna Eade, Marketing & Media Assistant at AXREM, will host four beginner-friendly sessions, one each week. No experience is needed. Each session will cover the basics step by step, so complete beginners can finish the month with a new skill and something to show for it.
The sessions are open to anyone who would like to join, not just AXREM members. Instead of a fee, attendees are asked to make a donation to our Dementia UK fundraiser at each session.
To take part, you'll need a 4mm crochet hook and some double knit (DK) yarn. If you already have a hook or yarn at home, you're welcome to bring whatever you have.

Sally Edgington, CEO of AXREM, said: "Dementia touches so many families, including people across our own sector. Supporting Dementia UK this year has been important to us and the crochet-along is a lovely way encourage personal wellbeing, learn something new and raise money for a charity that makes a real difference."
Donna Eade said: "Crochet looks trickier than it is. By the end of the four weeks, I'd like everyone to feel confident enough to carry on at home. If you've always fancied giving it a go, this is your chance and every session helps Dementia UK."
