Alex McGarvey

Alex McGarvey is a Registered General Nurse, Sick Children’s Nurse and Advanced Clinical Practitioner (MSc), and holds the dual leadership roles of Nurse Partner and Clinical Director at Lea Vale Medical Practice in Luton.

Lea Vale is a large multi-site practice serving around 48,000 patients in one of the most socioeconomically deprived areas of England. As a Deep End practice, it is committed to addressing the complex health and social challenges associated with deprivation. The practice also operates as a single-practice Primary Care Network (PCN), enabling alignment between workforce planning, service development and population health priorities. As an anchor institution within its neighbourhood, Lea Vale has developed integrated approaches to care and works closely with community, voluntary and statutory partners to support vulnerable communities and tackle health inequalities.

Alex is a passionate advocate for neighbourhood working and the role of nursing leadership in improving health outcomes and enabling collaboration across system partners. Alex champions innovative models of integrated care and demonstrates how nursing leadership can shape neighbourhood approaches that strengthen communities, improve access and address the wider determinants of health.
