Andy Bailey

Andy is the Operations Manager for the Virtual Ward at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of the senior leadership team, he has played a pivotal role in developing and expanding the service from supporting just a handful of patients in November 2022 to becoming a well-established and integral part of the Trust's urgent and emergency care pathway. With extensive operational leadership experience across both the NHS and HM Prison Service, Andy brings a strong track record of service transformation, programme delivery, and system improvement. Prior to joining the Virtual Ward, he spent nine years as the Urgent and Emergency Care Operations Manager, leading complex operational services and driving improvements in patient flow, quality, and performance. Andy is passionate about redesigning healthcare services to deliver better outcomes for patients. His work has focused on developing innovative models of care that reduce unnecessary hospital admissions, support earlier discharge, and strengthen integration between acute, community, and primary care services.
