Angela Jean-Francois CSci FIBMS HCPC

Angela is the Managing Director of North West London Pathology (NWLP), having previously served as Director of Operations. With over 25 years’ experience in pathology, she brings extensive, in‑depth expertise across the full range of laboratory services.

Her career spans every stage of the laboratory pathway—from working as a Biomedical Scientist at the bench to leading at executive level—giving her a uniquely strong understanding of both the technical and strategic dimensions of clinical laboratory diagnostics within healthcare. Angela has led the operational transition of services across the London 1 Pathology Network, with significant experience in service and operating model design, large‑scale transition, and implementation. Through her leadership, NWLP has delivered a comprehensive transformation programme while maintaining service performance, turnaround times, and business continuity. This has established a robust foundation on which NWLP continues to thrive as a high‑performing, award‑winning pathology network.

Angela is a dedicated Biomedical Scientist with a passion for professional development, education and training. Angela registered as a Biomedical Scientist in the field of Immunology. As a Fellow of the IBMS and chartered scientist, she has led the profession within this field scientifically, with an active role within the IBMS. Angela is an editor for the Oxford University Press series of Biomedical Science textbooks on Clinical Immunology. She is currently the IBMS Council member for the London region, Chair of the IBMS Education and Professional Standards committee and course module tutor for IBMS CEP in leadership and management.  Past roles include IBMS specialist advisor in Immunology, deputy chair, deputy chief examiner and external verifier.

Angela was recognised as ‘Ally of the Year’ at the 2024 Ethnic Minorities into Leadership Awards for her innovative approach to workforce development. Angela has recently been awarded NHS England London Region Healthcare Science Award for Educational Leadership in 2025.
