Dame Kate Dethridge

Dame Kate joined the Department of Education in 2016 as Deputy Director in North-West London and South-Central England region. She became Interim Regional Schools Commissioner of the same region in August 2019, securing the role in the Summer of 2020.

Prior to her appointment, Dame Kate had a varied career within the education sector:

an early years teacher, additional Ofsted inspector and headteacher for 18 years;
National Leader of Education, running an outstanding school and a teaching school;
an Associate Director of the National Education Trusts;
Chair and a member of departmental boards and review panels

Her work on school improvement led to her being made a Dame in the 2015 New Year’s Honours for services to education.
