David Jones

David Jones is the Director of Estates, Facilities and Capital Development at the University Hospital of Southampton. David has worked in senior positions across the NHS for 17 years. Prior to working for the NHS, David worked in the commercial and public sectors. David is a fellow of IHEEM, has an MBA from the University of Surrey and is currently in the fifth year of working towards a Ph.D. at the University of Southampton. David’s research is focused on understanding the causal relationship between backlog maintenance and patient safety incidents within the acute sector of NHS England. It is hoped that this research will set a foundation for greater study and understanding of the impact of the built environment on the patient journey. The research will identify further research opportunities to support the day-to-day management of estate both within and without the healthcare setting.
