Branko is a histopathologist and Chief Medical Officer of Black Country Pathology Service, one of the UK’s largest and most successful NHS pathology networks. With many years of experience leading large, multispecialty laboratory services, he has guided complex transformation programmes across blood sciences, microbiology, and cellular pathology. Since 2012, he has been at the forefront of digital pathology, driving the adoption of digital and computational systems across multiple NHS trusts. Branko combines clinical expertise with a strong understanding of medical management, holding professional qualifications in both fields. His work has an international dimension, shaped by leadership experience overseas. He is particularly focused on building services that are resilient, adaptive, and centred on workforce development, fostering career progression while improving patient care. Branko’s approach to leadership emphasises collaboration across organisational boundaries to deliver sustainable, high-quality pathology services that meet the evolving needs of modern healthcare.
