Dr Joe Mills is a consultant cardiologist specialising in both general and interventional cardiology, working across tertiary and community settings at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital (LHCH), where he is also Medical Director for Advanced Life Support. His clinical interests include primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), and cardiovascular disease prevention. He is also actively involved in advanced life support training and cardiovascular education for both specialists and primary care. Dr Mills is a leading clinical researcher and currently serves as National Principal Investigator for the SMARTVIEW trial, investigating wearable technology for post-cardiac surgery monitoring, and the SURPASS study, evaluating outcomes of a new TAVI valve. He is also a local Principal Investigator for major trials including VISION CARDIAC, AUGUSTUS, and COMPLETE. His broader research interests include cardiometabolic risk and premature coronary heart disease. In addition to his clinical and research roles, Dr Mills is the UK National CVD Prevention Coordinator, working across the British Cardiovascular Society and the European Society of Cardiology. He also serves as Cardiac Lead for the North-West Coast clinical networks and is the immediate Past President of the British Association for Cardiovascular Prevention & Rehabilitation (BACPR). Dr Mills trained at the University of Cambridge and completed his cardiology training across leading centres in the UK and Europe.
