Dr Lennard YW Lee

Associate Professor (University of Oxford), Medical Oncologist (NHS), National Clinical Advisor (Office for Life Sciences)
University of Oxford

Lennard is an innovative and up-and-coming physician who has made significant contributions to the field of cancer research. H has received numerous awards for his efforts, including the National ACP McElwain Prize for his work during the pandemic to support cancer patients, and the IAP’s 21 Outstanding Young Physicians award, given to individuals under the age of 40 who have made outstanding contributions to the field.

Lennard’s expertise lies in delivering national studies and trials that push the boundaries of what is possible, and breaking the mould with pre-pandemic business-as-usual processes. He has a strong track record of academic achievements, with over 50 publications in the highest impact journals, including the Lancet and JAMA.

One of Lennard’s most notable achievements was his role in the UK COVID Cancer Program, which safeguarded cancer patients during the pandemic and provided an example of safe cancer care. He also delivered the UK Lateral Flow Moonshot Program, the NHS-Gallery Study, and the Forgotten500K Campaign. All of these programs were highly collaborative, and Lennard is known for his ability to form bridges and break down silos to help quicker results.

His work and research have been covered by the BBC, ITV, Daily Mail, Tortoise Media, and international news outlets. His focus is in cancer research, on population-scale data and hyper-accelerated trials. These trials are a new phenomenon that have arisen out of pandemic efforts and are characterised by speed of opening and efficiencies in delivery, shortening the time for research intact. Oxford has pioneered many of these research programs, and Lennard’s PhD at Oxford University, at the Wellcome Centre of Genomics, has given him an excellent understanding of new technologies based around genomics, sequencing, and genomic engineering.

He is an excellent communicator, and is eager in forming bridges to academics, patients, and stakeholders to communicate science and research, as demonstrated in his role in IndieSAGE. He is passionate about driving change to achieve much faster impact to cancer patients through his hyper-accelerated trials and enable new technology and treatments to make a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer.

Lennard’s innovative approach and dedication to cancer research have led to significant advancements in the field and have helped to improve and re-define cancer care. He is passionate and dedicated to their work, using his experience as part of the pandemic response to drive innovation and deliver real results for cancer patients.

Convenzis Healthcare Event testimonials

What our clients say about us

It was great to join the Convenzis team again for the patient flow event. As always, the team were incredibly accommodating and happy to help. The quality of attendees is always of a high standard and relevant to the patient flow and to us also. We continue to have great discussions and footfall around our stand with no need to try and encourage people to come and see us. Really positive event for us and we look forward to working with Convenzis in the future.

My colleague and I presented at the NHS workforce conference 2023, 19 September. The support and guidance we received from the Convenzis team in the run up to our presentation slot was great, well timed and perfectly pitched. The event itself, again was expertly organised. The conference was well Chaired by Sean, who was very engaging. As an audience member as well as a panel member, I would definitely work with the Convenzis team again.

I worked with Convenzis, primarily Dan, for the first time this year, putting together a bespoke online event for IBM. He has always been so responsive and accommodating. The team always remained professional and helpful – despite the many demands from our side! They were very keen for us to maximise on the investment and revisit those attendees who had not committed to follow ups.
It was an absolute pleasure doing business with Convenzis and I know there will be more opportunities next year. Looking forward to it!
