Dr Sotiris Antoniou is Clinical Director for Clinical Services at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, part of Barts Health NHS Trust, and previously a Consultant Pharmacist in Cardiovascular Disease. He leads system-level innovation across cardiovascular prevention, medicines optimisation, and service transformation, with a particular focus on shifting care upstream and closer to communities.
He is the clinical lead for nationally recognised pharmacy-led cardiovascular prevention programmes including ELOPE CVD PoCT, integrating point-of-care diagnostics, independent prescribing, and structured follow-up within community pharmacy and neighbourhood pathways. This work has demonstrated how frontline pharmacy teams can safely deliver early detection, treatment optimisation, and continuity of care in partnership with cardiology and primary care services.
Dr Antoniou has contributed to multiple NICE cardiovascular guidelines and national policy initiatives, and was awarded the 2023 Health Service Journal Award for Medicines, Pharmacy and Prescribing Initiative of the Year for his leadership in pharmacist-led cardiovascular risk management.
