Ehsan Haqqani

Associate Director of Governance & Patient Safety
Wrightington, Wigan & Leigh NHS Teaching Hospitals Trust

After leaving undergraduate Law School Ehsan began working defend claims for a large NHS Trust during the time that Trusts were able to manage their own claims under a certain limit. Following that, he has worked in a variety of governance roles, including assisting in setting up the first risk registers, setting up a complaints process following the introduction of PCTs and designing a governance transitional arrangements work during the merger of ambulance Trusts.

Ehsan also supported the merger of health and social care systems within Salford, designing a new governance framework that blended both systems together. This provided a better assurance and monitoring system for the wider health and social care economy

Ehsan has been fortunate to have worked within acute, primary care, mental health and ambulance service organisations which has given him a unique insight into the workings of all the elements of governance as well as delivering training on root cause analysis, complaints investigations and, most recently leading on human factors awareness, being shortlisted as a finalist for a HSJ Patient Safety Award, as well as his teams being awarded Audit and patient safety national awards
