Dr Tran is a Consultant Rheumatologist at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust. He has been outpatient transformation and innovation lead for the trust, as well as outpatient lead across 2 integrated care boards (West Yorkshire and Humber and North Yorkshire), which represents 9 trusts and 5 million people. He has recently taken on a national role as Outpatient Advisor to GIRFT. He is involved in delivering NHSE’s operational and planning guidance and on the NHS 10 Year Health Plan.
His leadership roles requires engagement with multiple stakeholders including NHSE, Providers, Commissioners, primary and secondary care, industry and digital partners. He has helped reduce the waiting list in his trust by 20%; reduce DNAs by >1%; and increased the use of PIFU whilst maintaining discharge rates to one of the highest in Northern England. Recent successes across the region include reducing the waiting list across West Yorkshire by >5% (approximately 10,000 appointments), despite an increase in referrals, and reducing missed appointments by >1% (approximately 3,000 appointments).
