Jeremy Oates

Jeremy Oates is a Consultant Urological Surgeon with special interests in Robotic Pelvic Surgery, Complex Urological Cancer Management, and Retroperitoneal Procedures. He currently works as part of the renowned urology team at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust. He has expertise in the following areas: Robotic surgery, Urological Surgery, Urological Cancers, Complex pelvic and retroperitoneal cancers, Prostate Cancer, Prostate Cancer Diagnostics, Bladder Cancer, Pelvic Cancers, Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy (BPH), Urinary tract infections (UTI). Mr Oates completed his undergraduate and basic surgical training in the Mersey Deanery before undertaking further urological training in Manchester. He went on to gain an MD, in which his research investigated the identification and behaviour of potential stem cells in kidney cancer. He then received additional surgical training in the North West and gained his CCT in 2013. After completing his training, Mr Oates joined the Mid Cheshire NHS Foundation Trust as a Consultant Urological Surgeon and lead Urological Cancer clinician. During this time, he also performed major pelvic surgery at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust before moving to the Christie in 2017. Mr Oates is the Urology Pathway board lead for the Greater Manchester Cancer Alliance and is involved in a number of national programmes aimed at improving urological cancer detection and management. He is also involved in the medical education of students, junior physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
