Dr John Thompson

John is National Associate Clinical Director of NHS Scotland’s Centre for Sustainable Delivery with a portfolio that includes diagnostics, data, primary-secondary care interface and the accelerated national innovation adoption (ANIA) multi-organisation collaborative. His clinical practice is as a Gastroenterologist in Aberdeen. He has a research background in bioinformatics having undertaken his PhD between Aberdeen University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a Scottish Quality and Safety Fellow, a Salzburg Global Fellow and a Fellow of the SCIANA Healthcare Leaders Network.

John is passionate about creating a sustainable health and social care system as part of a wider sustainable global society. He strives to achieve this through a focus on collaborative systems leadership to create the conditions that will facilitate innovation, advances in clinical research and care, and ultimately drive sustainable improvements in global population health.
