Kanthan Theivendran

Kanthan is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Sandwell & West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust, with extensive experience in trauma and orthopaedics and specialist expertise in shoulder and upper limb surgery. He trained at Imperial College London and University College London, and has completed senior fellowship training in Derby and Wrightington.

Alongside his clinical practice, he is Research Lead for the department, a member of the Trust R&D Committee, and an Honorary Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Aston University. His work spans surgical innovation, clinical trials, health IT, and the use of patient-reported outcomes and experience measures. With a strong interest in how interoperable EPRs can support safer, more effective care, he brings a clinician-researcher perspective to the challenges and opportunities of digital transformation in healthcare.
