Kathy Nelson

Kathy’s extensive health service experience includes commissioning local and strategic programmes across systems. She has provided management leadership in the recovery and restoration of cancer services in BLMK, working to improve cancer service provision using a population health approach.

Kathy was recognised as the winner in the ‘Ground-breaking Researcher’ category at the 2023 National Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic Health and Care Awards for her work researching the experiences of cancer patients in Luton where there are significant healthcare inequalities linked to access, deprivation and ethnicity.

The project has been hugely successful with the work published national commissioning, public health and palliative care journals.
