Mahala McGuffie

Mahala is the Head of Better Outcomes for Women in Custody for the Women’s Directorate and has experience of working in HMPPS for over 20 years of which she has spent over 10 years in the Women’s Estate. Mahala has governed 3 prisons including HMP Styal within the Women’s Estate. Mahala is passionate about improving re-offending outcomes for prisoners and has focused upon improving pathways to resettlement in the roles that she has fulfilled developing strong relationships with communities and employers. In her current role Mahala leads the HMPPS team responsible for the breadth of areas specific to women in custody including Reducing Re-Offending, Healthcare and the Self-Harm Task Force.
