Professor of Respiratory Medicine

Prof Michael Crooks is a Professor and Honorary Consultant of Respiratory Medicine working at Hull York Medical School, University of Hull and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. He is Clinical Lead for the Humber and North Yorkshire Respiratory Network and chairs the Hull and East Yorkshire Respiratory Education Group. He leads the Hull and East Yorkshire Integrated COPD Service and is a member of the local asthma service. He undertakes research relating to the diagnosis and management of airways diseases, such as asthma and COPD, and their exacerbations. He leads the SENTINEL Project and SENTINEL Plus which aim to improve outcomes for asthma patients and reduce the environmental impact of asthma through identifying and addressing SABA over-use. The SENTINEL Project was the winner of the Environmental Sustainability Project of the Year at the HSJ Partnership Awards 2022. He is a clinical lead for the Respiratory Transformation Programme in England, with responsibility for supporting asthma guideline implementation across the healthcare system.
