Paul Volkaerts

Paul Volkaerts is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Nervecentre Software, the British healthcare technology company he established in 2010 to transform how hospitals use digital information. After a successful career in enterprise technology, including a decade at Cisco, he founded the business with a clear conviction: mobile technology and real-time data could make hospital care safer, faster and more efficient. As CEO, Paul has guided Nervecentre from a one-person venture into a nationally significant company employing over 200 people. Under his leadership, Nervecentre progressed from specialist clinical workflow tools to a full cloud-based Electronic Patient Record platform designed around the operational needs of the NHS. He has overseen the company’s expansion while retaining its independence and a clear focus on innovation. His CEO leadership combines commercial ambition with a strong public-service purpose. He has kept Nervecentre’s workforce intellectual property and operational capability in the UK while directing innovation towards better clinical collaboration, reduced administration and improved patient care. Looking ahead, he is leading development in integrated care, artificial intelligence, ambient voice technology and patient-facing services.
