I am an award-winning, well-connected, investigative journalist, with a significant specialism in science and technology and extensive experience in TV, radio and national print journalism.
My experience in journalism is extensive and has ranged from reporting for the Guardian in the Gulf War, to working with drug gangs in Moss Side and hacking gangs in London. I also present and write the PassW0rd radio show on the ramifications of technology for London’s ResonanceFM, hailed by the Guardian as London’s best radio station. I am considered an expert on cyber security and run the Cyber Security Research Institute
Twice, winner of the cyber security news story of the year award, I am the author of two critically acclaimed books on cyber security and have just finished a book on AI regulation due for publication on March 17, 2020, for which I interviewed the leading AI experts in the world.
I have worked with and for The Guardian, The Times, The Sunday Times, The Independent, the Sunday Express, The Evening Standard, The Daily Mirror and The Mail on Sunday, Sky News, BBC 2, BBC News, and Channel 4 amongst others.
During my career, I have interviewed leading politicians ranging from Lord Heseltine, Lord Blunkett, and Lord Reid, to Ken Clark and many others as well as some of the top people in the intelligence and defence communities such as Lord West and Sir David Omand of GCHQ. I have also interviewed some of the most famous names in technology ranging from Sir Tim Berners Lee to tech billionaires such as Pierre Omidyar founder of E-Bay, Larry Ellison, founder of Oracle and Scott McNealy founder of Sun Microsystems.
