Professor Sue Hignett

Professor of Healthcare Ergonomics & Patient Safety
Loughborough University

Sue Hignett is a Professor of Healthcare Ergonomics & Patient Safety at Loughborough University, and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (FCIEHF).  Her academic interests focus on optimizing human well-being and overall system performance. This has included hospital and ambulance design, emergency response, staff wellbeing, and patient safety (e.g., mobility and falls).  Sue is co-leading the Human Factors Healthcare HUB at Loughborough University which offers short courses as part of the CIEHF Healthcare Learning Pathway to look at safety challenges and design solutions that can be embedded in the complex healthcare systems.
