Scott Deacon

Clinical Lead Continuous Improvement & Clinical Director Outpatients
University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust

Scott is currently the Clinical Director of Outpatients including being the Senior Responsible Officer for the delivery of DrDoctor patient engagement platform for University Hospitals Bristol Weston NHS Foundation Trust. He is also the Clinical Lead for Continuous Improvement and Innovation and the Clinical Director of Bristol Dental Hospital. Previously he was a Clinical Lead for UBHW with a new system wide OPAT service and other NHS@Home pathways across the local health region working with other acute and primary care providers to deliver these new services 2019-22. He is a current Fellow with the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management with an interest in leadership development and has supported a new leadership framework for staff in UHBW and published on leadership.

Scott was appointed as the Lead Consultant Orthodontist for the tertiary South West Cleft Service in 2005 and was the Clinical Director for this service 2014-20.  He had an active role in customer service in his Trust, leading on a project improving telecommunications for users into a hospital and helping develop a customer service program for staff with the Transformation team.

Previously he was the Clinical Project Lead for the CRANE Database at Royal College of Surgeons, England (2008-19). This is a national register of all babies born with cleft lip and cleft palate in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, which assesses the quality of treatment these children receive in the specialist centres. Recognition of his leadership of this project was acknowledged by the Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership Audit Hero Award “National Clinical Practitioner of the Year” in 2019. He has published on the outcomes and educational achievement of children with cleft lip and palate and undertaken media work on the radio and TV in relation to cleft care.

I worked with Convenzis, primarily Dan, for the first time this year, putting together a bespoke online event for IBM. He has always been so responsive and accommodating. The team always remained professional and helpful – despite the many demands from our side! They were very keen for us to maximise on the investment and revisit those attendees who had not committed to follow ups.
