Spencer Humphrys

Spencer is the founder and Managing Director of Nexus Consulting, a specialist health and social care transformation partner working with NHS trusts, integrated care systems and local authorities. Spencer believes and has shown that the NHS can improve significantly when people are willing to think more radically. With one recent client, he and the team showed that 90% of the Trust's UEC improvement plans would have no significant impact on the outcome they wanted, and that the answer was a 40% smaller physical A&E footprint. The impact? An 80% reduction in 12-hour breaches, and ~250 fewer medical admissions per month. Spencer spent 14 years in the NHS, from starting on the graduate management scheme to holding Divisional Director positions and spending six years with NHS England's Emergency Care Improvement Support Team (ECIST). He then moved to Newton Europe, working on projects from Defence and Aerospace to population health management, before founding Nexus in 2024. Spencer and the Nexus team are currently running change programmes across the country, from A&E process redesign to whole-system discharge pathway development.
