EVENT OVERVIEW
Point-of-care testing (POCT) is an important component of the NHS’s evolving diagnostic model, supporting faster clinical decision-making and the delivery of care closer to home.
As the NHS progresses the ambitions of its 10 Year Health Plan for England, the shift from hospital to community, analogue to digital, and sickness to prevention creates new opportunities for POCT across urgent and emergency care, primary care, community services and hospital pathways.
FuturePOCT 2027 will focus on the practical implementation and sustainable management of POCT across NHS services. The programme will bring together clinical, pathology, operational, diagnostic and digital leaders to examine how testing can be safely deployed beyond traditional laboratory settings, how services can strengthen quality and oversight, and how organisations can evaluate the impact of POCT on patient outcomes, clinical decision-making and operational efficiency.
The emphasis is on implementation: understanding what works in practice, identifying barriers to adoption and developing approaches that can be adapted to local NHS settings.

FuturePOCT 2027 is designed to help NHS leaders translate diagnostic transformation priorities into effective, measurable service delivery.
The summit will examine the operational, clinical and organisational capabilities required to establish and scale POCT while maintaining the standards expected of safe, reliable diagnostic services.
