Transforming primary care key priorities panel debate
Primary care is the first point of contact for most people with the National Health Service (NHS) in the UK. It is a vital part of the healthcare system, providing essential services to patients, such as general medical care, mental health support, and preventive care. However, the primary care sector in the UK is facing significant challenges, including an aging population, increasing demand for services, and limited resources. To address these challenges, primary care in the NHS is undergoing a transformation. This panel debate will discuss the key topics related to transforming primary care in the NHS.

Unify Medicines Strategy across ICS Digital Ecosystems
In a typical ICS there are often multiple digital platforms, apps and dashboards commissioned by various organisations containing medicines policies that can duplicate or conflict. Dissemination of policies into multiple disparate clinical and administrative workflows introduces inconsistency and inefficiency within the system.
Join us to discover how FDB simplifies system-wide orchestration and delivery of your medicines strategy into your digital ecosystem. During this session we’ll use examples such as antipsychotic use, anticholinergic burden, low carbon inhalers and overdosing of paracetamol, and demonstrate how FDB is enabling 80% of ICBs and Health Boards to overcome medicines optimisation challenges.

Transforming The Treatment of Depression in Primary Care

Putting primary care at the heart of integrated care
The PCN Strategic Infrastructure Planning programme was delivered by Transformation Partners working closely with NEL ICB between September 2021 and 2022. The output was the delivery of bespoke infrastructure toolkits for each of the 47 PCNs in NEL, which captured their baseline position across digital, estates and workforce domains and made strategic recommendations that could be taken forward to improve PCN maturity.
Primary Care Workforce
The primary care environment is very different from the other parts of the NHS. It’s made up of many small businesses, whether that be practices or primary care networks who are seeking to build multidisciplined teams to deliver enhanced services in their local communities. The way people recruit and how and why people work has evolved greatly over the last few years. This presentation will look at what factors contribute to attraction and retention and how you can recruit the right people and the right time.
By the end of the presentation, you will understand:
The 3Rs -Recruitment, Retention and Resilience – What matters?
From experience and insight, gained through working with Beds and Herts LMC, running practice development programmes and supporting individual GP practices and clinicians through change and improvement, the presentation will address the key elements that practices and GPs, in particular, need from local training hubs, PCNs and LMCs in order to enable improved recruitment, retention and resilience.
