The NHS Workforce Conference North 2023: Looking after our people

The Convenzis NHS Workforce Conference series provides a safe and secure environment for NHS HR/OD leaders to listen to the latest policy updates and on the ground practical case studies from across the NHS estate. Previous and continued areas of conversation include Diversity and Inclusion, Culture Change, Staff Recruitment and Retention, Technology and Leadership Development.

The 2020/2021 NHS: People Plan, along with the NHS People Promise, focuses on how the NHS must continue to look after each other and foster a culture of inclusion and belonging. The plans also offer practical advice and guidance on growing the workforce, training and collaborative working with the aim being to improve outcomes for patients.

We have shared some amazing examples of best practices at previous events including Lucy Renwick, Workforce Transformation Lead – National at Health Education England, Lucy joined us at our Feb 2021 addition and provided details of the HEE Star Initiative which provides a simple but effective model to support workforce transformation, enabling those responsible for delivering healthcare services to explore workforce challenges in more detail.

Our 2023 event will open the debate on some of the core areas listed within the 2020/2021 NHS People Plan.

In support of the NHS, we are providing all NHS Workforce managers and leaders with a fully funded and complimentary delegate pass to attend this session.

Creating space to think differently

NHS organisations are facing an extreme amount of pressure, and competing priorities – many of which impact teams in a number of ways from motivation to morale. We recognise the challenges that the workforce face, and the realities of trying to find ways to make lasting and meaningful change.

What is needed, are tools and approaches that facilitate better insights into workforce challenges so that leaders and teams are equipped to plan effectively, in a way that allows staff to optimise their capacity. The Benson tool is an intuitive platform that brings to life contemporaneous data about team activity.

The result is better understanding of the workforce in order to be able to more effectively predict and plan the requirements of the service to deliver the best possible care.

Supporting a culture of Clear Air

Our aim is to give an insight into the cost of conflict in the workplace – this includes the cost financially, time, resource and fundamentally people’s wellbeing and mental health. Through a series of short stories as examples, we will illustrate how organisations can help their teams and managers create a culture of empowerment, innovation, with honesty and integrity.  All of our training and  services in early resolution help create a culture of ‘Clear Air’ which when role modelled and demonstrated from the senior leadership team can truly make a positive change.
